Congratulations! You have successfully installed your new video card! Replace your computer cover. Plug your display cable into the connector on your newly installed video card. Also, reconnect any other cables you might have unplugged during the installation process. Step 9: Installing the Driver for Your New Video Card Tools that you will need for installing the drivers : Your video card install guide Your computer manual The CD that came with your video card Identifying New Hardware Begin by turning on your system. You may be prompted to restart your computer. If so, click Yes to restart your computer. If your system launches the "Update Device Driver Wizard," follow the instructions below. If your system does not launch this wizard, skip the steps below and go to Installing the Video Card Driver. Click Next. Click Finish. Insert your Windows installation CD in your CD-ROM drive. Click OK. If you have Windows 98SE, type D:\WIN98. If you have Windows ME, type D:\WINME. (If your CD-ROM drive is not your D drive, replace D with the correct letter.) Click OK. Click Yes to reboot your system. Follow the instructions for Installing the Video Card Driver below. Installing the Video Card Driver Insert the ATi Installation CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. (If Windows runs the CD-ROM automatically, proceed to step 6.) Click Start. Select Run. Type the following: D:\ATISETUP (If D is not your CD-ROM drive, substitute D with the correct drive letter.) Click OK. Click Install under Software Install. Click Next. Click Yes to the license agreement. Click ATi Easy Install to begin the Installation Wizard. Follow the Wizard's on-screen instructions to complete the installation. Note : The Express installation option is recommended. If your ATi Graphics Accelerator card includes a multimedia component, the software for that component will automatically be installed, along with the ATi graphics driver. Not all software components are installed using the Express installation. Custom installation allows you to select individual software components for installation. Step 10: Troubleshooting If you have trouble with your new video card, we recommend the following: Remove the video card and reinstall it, making sure that it is firmly installed in your AGP slot. Double-check that all the cables inside your computer are connected securely. You may have knocked one of the cables inside your computer loose during installation. Double-check that the display cable is securely connected to both your monitor and your computer. Review your system documentation and disable the on-board graphics on your motherboard if necessary. Visit http://www.crucial.com/support to download the most recent version of the video card driver. Be sure to select the correct display device and video card when installing the driver. If you're still having difficulties with your video card, check the Crucial FAQ section . You may find an easy solution for your problem.
