( Details ) Starring: Matt Damon , Franka Potente , Clive Owen Director: Doug Liman Video Release: January 2003 | Theatrical Release: 2002 Runtime: 116 Rating: PG-13 (MPAA) Released by Universal Home Entertainment | UPC: 025192155123 chapters.indigo Review The best spy-novel-turned-big-screen-blockbuster in recent memory, The Bourne Identity does credit to Robert Ludlum's best-selling thriller and establishes Matt Damon as a more credible action hero than his pal, Ben Affleck. Damon dons an impressive array of cozy sweaters for a guy who doesn't know his name for certain, let alone the location of his closet -- he's found floating in the ocean, with a couple of bullets and the number of a Swiss bank account under his skin, but no memory of who he is or how he ended up in such a predicament. As he retraces the footsteps he doesn't remember making, he discovers a huge wad of cash, a handful of passports with his picture in them, a gun that comes in very handy and some surprising life-skills, like a working knowledge of French and the ability to kick the snot out of armed men who want to kill him. Desperate to discover the truth about himself and fully aware that he's being hunted down, he offers a wayward German woman ( Run, Lola, Run star Franka Potente) a small fortune for a ride to Paris. The action scenes hit just the right note -- suspenseful, without being overblown -- a terrific car chase which will change the way you see Minis forever and thankfully, we don't get bogged down in the inevitable love-storyline. This is a fine, satisfying thriller. Notes Theatrical release: June 14, 2002 Description IN THEATRES: JUNE 14, 2002 Based on the action thriller by Robert Ludlum, THE BOURNE IDENTITY is director Doug Liman's remake of the 1988 television version that starred Richard Chamberlain in the role of Jason Young. This new version stars Matt Damon as Young, a man with amnesia who is on the run without a clue who he is or why he's being pursued. Amazon Canada - Always the best prices!

The Seattle Times, August 03, 2002: Toronto - Indigo Books & Music and a group representing Canada's independent booksellers said they will challenge in court a government decision letting Amazon.com set up a Canadian Web site. Indigo, Canada's largest book chain, and the Canadian Booksellers Association said Amazon.com has violated rules that bar non-Canadians from controlling bookstores. Seattle-based Amazon.com is paying Assured Logistics, a unit of government-owned Canada Post, to run a Toronto-area warehouse and deliver books, music and movies ordered through the month-old Canadian site, Amazon.ca. That way, Amazon doesn't operate a bookstore in Canada. "The Heritage Department has confirmed Amazon.ca is operating in accordance with Canadian laws," said company spokeswoman Kristin Schaefer.
