You can choose from two types - Canopy or Retractable. All B&Q garage doors come complete with the lifting equipment of your choice. By considering the following points, you will identify which type of equipment is the right one for your new garage door: 1. The door size you have chosen 2. Space constraints of your garage 1. The door size you have chosen 'Canopy' lifting equipment is only available on B&Q Standard Single Width Doors. 'Retractable' can be used on both B&Q Standard Single and Double Width Doors. 2. Space constraints of your garage The space available both inside and outside of your garage will determine the type of lifting equipment you require. The dimension diagrams below outline the space required to fit and use each type: Canopy Canopies are trackless and use integral vertical slide runners along which the door travels. When open, approximately a third of the door protrudes into the driveway creating the canopy effect. This type of lifting equipment will allow you to make better use of the storage space in you garage. When in use, canopy lifting equipment will reduce drive-through height by 127mm. It does not effect drive-through width. Retractable This type of lifting equipment can be more convenient from an operational point of view. Virtually all the door travels back into the garage and you can fit an electric operator allowing you to open and close the door with a remote control. However, it's worth bearing in mind that retractables do take up more space, and if this is a concern for you, choose canopy equipment. When in use, retractable lifting equipment will reduce the drive-through height by 127mm and width by 125mm. The retractable equipment will have runners in the garage that could obstruct or impede opening windows or side doors. If you think this may be the case choose canopy equipment. Electric Operators* Fitting an electric operator to your garage door will allow you to open and close your door via a remote control. This is ideal on those cold, rainy winter nights when you don’t want to leave the comfort and security of your car. Electric operators also add perceived value to the house and encourage the use of the garage for parking the car at night. *Can only be used with retractable lifting equipment Both types of lifting equipment can be supplied pre-fitted to a B&Q quick-fit steel door frame along with your B&Q standard size door. Alternatively, you will need to fit the equipment to a timber goalpost door frame and to your new door. Now that you've decided which type best suits your garage and needs, choose the style of your garage door . Introduction Measure Up Choose Lifting Equipment Choose your Door .
